DREAMFACE DEVELOPER CHALLENGE TERMS & CONDITIONS

The object of the DreamFace Developer Challenge is to build the best DataWidget for DreamFace. A DataWidget is a widget that uses, manipulates and displays data. In the case of the DreamFace Developer Challenge the data will be limited to public data sources such as RSS feeds, XML files, public databases, web services, etc...which are available through public URLs (for more information see below the Data category). The submitted DreamFace DataWidgets will be judged on creativity, usefulness and complexity.
Submissions will be accepted from March 19 through June 19, 2008. The jury will choose the top three DataWidgets. Winners will be recognized in a press announcement and their DataWidgets will be showcased on the SYS-CON, DreamFace and DataWidgets sites.

HOW TO ENTER THE DREAMFACE DEVELOPER CHALLENGE

To enter the contest, you must register for the challenge on the www.datawidget.net website. Entrants can submit multiple DataWidget entries.
All entries should be written in DreamFace Outsider which can be download from the www.dreamface-interactive.com site upon registration into the DreamFace community.

DATA

DataWidgets must be built using public data sources, available to public URLs, with or without calls to external libraries and in the case of calls to external libraries, these must also be open and public, for example jQuery or Flot.

POSTINGS

DataWidgets will be posted to the datawidget.net site which will showcase the DataWidgets and serve as our boutique for the challenge. Data Sources should also be posted on this site. Ultimately, this website will be a marketplace for DataWidgets.

EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL

A DataWidget tutorial is available on www.dreamface-interactive.com/wiki. It provides two examples:

The "HelloWorld" DataWidget which displays data extracted from an XML file via a DataSource
A "Bar & Line" DataWidget which uses an external javascript library (The Flot Chart library by Ole Laursen) to display visual information in charts.

PRIZE

First prize is an Apple iPhone. Top three DataWidgets announced as winners in mid-June on the SYS-CON, DreamFace Interactive and DataWidget.net websites.

COMMUNICATION

DreamFace Interactive will send emails to participants to inform them about instructions, events or any useful information related to the Challenge.

RIGHTS

All submitted DataWidgets will be added to the DataWidget platform at www.datawidget.net and become free and available resources for download and use by all members of the DreamFace Community.

CHANGES

DreamFace Interactive reserves the right to update and change the Terms & Conditions at any time at its discretion without notice.
